Krystal International Vacation Club knows that Cancun, Mexico is a dream destination for many travelers. The warm tropical waters, beautiful sandy beaches, and abundant historical attractions make Cancun the perfect destination for both a relaxing and exciting vacation. Also, the fact that most Americans can arrive in Cancun in three to six hours makes it an even more attractive destination than many tropical destinations in the Caribbean, especially for families with children.

The Mexican people are, in general, very family-oriented and friendly to visitors. In Cancun, they are especially proud of their rich Mayan history and the multiple archeological sites that are still making discoveries every day. The El Rey ruins are not as well known as some of the other places, and that is surprising as they are located right in the hotel zone near Playa Delfines. This site consists of more than 40 buildings including a pyramid temple which, when toured with an experienced guide, gives many insights to the inner workings of the Mayan empire.

The Tulum ruins are another excellent example of the Mayan culture, and they are located right on the shoreline. Tulum is not actually in Cancun according to Krystal International Vacation Club; it is approximately 80 miles to the south of Cancun, so you will need to arrange transportation which can be done either before your arrival or at your hotel. Many excursion companies offer day-long trips that combine a visit to the ruins with either a visit to one of the many local cenotes or an afternoon of snorkeling.

Water sports are some of the most popular activities for both tourists and locals in Cancun. SCUBA diving trips are abundant, and three of the most visited spots are the MUSA (Museo Subacuático de Arte), the Santa Rosa Wall, and Palancar Gardens. The MUSA is a human-made underwater museum that is home to more than 450 different statues. The Santa Rosa Wall and Palancar Gardens are located in between Cancun and Cozumel, and as part of the second largest living reef in the world, there is an incredibly diverse amount of sea life to be viewed here.

Snorkeling is also a favorite pastime in Cancun according to Krystal International Vacation Club. Equipment can rent at many of the numerous dive shops by the day or by the week. With snorkel equipment in hand, your next choice is whether to head for the open sea water or go and explore some of the many freshwater cenotes in the area. If you are not inclined to strike out on your own, there are also a wide variety of both half day and full day snorkeling tours by boat that include lunch, drinks, and all the necessary equipment.
